Position Overview:
Reporting to Manager of the Staffing Resource Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centred care environment. The Registered Nurse is a highly skilled nurse that will be responsive to the staffing needs in acute medicine/telemetry, surgery and post-acute.

Requirements:
•Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
•Current CPR/BCLS certificate and competent to perform CPR.
•Current medical/surgical nursing experience (minimum 1 year)
•Completed CCU 1 or equivalent or agreement to complete within 6 months of transfer
•Demonstrate competency in the initiation of peripheral intravenous as well as the care and maintenance of CVAD′s.
•Demonstrated skills in providing patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care.
•Evidence of sound critical thinking skills and the ability to organize and prioritize patient care needs and work well in stressful situations
•Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
•Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement.
•Ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
•Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record.
•Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
•Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.


Asset:
•Current certification in CPI
•Current certification in GPA
