Reporting to the Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics, the Cardiac Technician will be responsible for providing diagnostic support for the physician in the diagnosis of cardiac disorders, cardiac stress testing, holter monitoring, and electrocardiography. Responsibilities include: Assisting with stress echo, prepare the skin and attach electrodes as necessary for a good quality tracing, insertion of IV′s as necessary, take and monitor blood pressure, monitor patient before, during and after test, holter hook-ups and holter analysis and assessment, performing standard ECG, recognizes arrhythmias in resting and exercise electrocardiography, set up, operate and maintain testing equipment, performing minor maintenance adjustment and contacting biomedical engineering for repair when necessary, order and restock lab supplies, prepare and distribute report to physicians for interpretation and dictation, responds to emergency situations, and keeps accurate record of all tests. You may be scheduled at any SHN campus based on departmental needs.

Requirements:

• Current registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
• Clinical and technical experience in electrocardiography, holter monitoring, event recorder monitoring, stress testing, and Blood Pressure Monitoring
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, a team player
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
• Excellent work performance and attendance

Asset:

• ACLS
• Ability to speak another language is an asset
• 1 Year Clinical experience in a Hospital Setting
