Reporting to the Manager, The Journeyperson (Electrician) is responsible for installing and / or maintaining the electrical equipment within the Hospital. The Electrician completes assigned maintenance work requisitions and follows maintenance schedules prescribed by the Manager within the Plant and Facilities Operations department. The Electrician is also required to perform additional tasks within the Plant and Facilities operation department. Some of these tasks may involve however not limited to, bed repair, HVAC service / PM work, boiler / chiller plant operations and other plant maintenance duties as assigned. The work assignment may also be scheduled across the three SHN hospitals.

Requirements:

• Valid Red Seal Ontario Certificate of Qualification, Journeyperson electrician 309 A license and Ontario Certificate of Apprenticeship
• Previous experience working in plant operations and or industrial environment.
• Demonstrates ability to read, write, speak and follow directions in English
• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Safety Code
• Able to read blueprints and follow sketches and oral & written assignments
• Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Physical capabilities to perform duties as outlined by the physical demands
• Demonstrates values consistent with Scarborough Health Network (SHN) Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
